I have been the Head Athletic Trainer of the Anaheim Ducks since the 2005 season. I have used your Bunga Pads for a variety of reasons. They are very durable and a cost effective approach to relieving the painful condition called Lace Bite. I have at least 15 players that use them on a daily basis. We use the LaceBite Pad, the Malleolar Sleeve, and also the Achilles' Heel Pad. Not only do the players believe in the product’s ability to take away the discomfort from Lace Bite, it also is a way to increase the comfort they feel inside their skates. – Tim Clark, M.Ed., ATC Head Athletic Trainer Anaheim Ducks

PROFILIING SKATES (explained) Profling or Contouring is a process of the changing the skate blade to apply more blade to the ice while at the same time creating proper forward knee bend in your skating. Properly contoured skates are based on a few simple factors.
 |
> Skate Design & standard rocker used by various manufacturer |
 |
> Height/Weight |
 |
> Position Played |
The Profiling system of transferring the mechanical points of the foot directly to the skate blade eliminates the most common variables present on skates today. It is typical that some steel runners can vary widely from the factory... some of these variables are:
 |
> Inconsistent location of the blade holder on the skate |
 |
> Incorrect radius & lie on the blade based on the players profile |
 |
> Inconsistency of the toe & heel shape |
So, what exactly will Profiling or Contouring do for me?
Well, a few good things...
> Identifing a skaters center or balance point to improve efficiency.
> Adjusting the lie or angle of the skate blade is usually done to accomodate the skaters personal preference for the blade feel "forward", "neutral" or "backward." For example, a hockey defenceman usually prefers a "neutral" or "defensive" radius in order to be able to pivot from forward to backward skating easier; and so that he or she has more blade contact on the ice toward the middle of the blade which helps with pivots and backward skating.
> Finally, the profile or overall shape (Rocker) of the blade is optimized for tighter turns or more power in strides.
All of these elements combined, will help the skater to achieve more balance, control, speed and overall enjoyment, with less fatigue.
